Meet our pastor & his family

Pastor Denny loves his family and church family and is dedicated to sharing the good news of Christ with a lost and hurting world. He is passionate about reading and writing, loves a wide variety of music from gospel to U2, has an affinity for a good bowl of Pho or traditional Mediterranean food, and enjoys telling a great joke. One of six children (including a twin sister, Denise), he grew up in Brownsville, TX. During Vacation Bible School at Primera Iglesia Bautista de Brownsville, he received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He was called into Christian ministry after attending a youth camp; and after graduating from high school in 1984, Pastor Denny attended Criswell College and began serving in student ministry.

Pastor Denny and his wife Cheryl met in 1988, and they were married in 1990. Although they were unable to have their own children, God blessed them with two sons through adoption, Elijah and Giovanni, in 2012. Cheryl actively supports Pastor Denny and his ministry, loves being a mom to her sons, and enjoys her work with the Collin County Elections Department. Elijah is a great student and enjoys playing football and hanging out with his friends. Gio lights up the room with his smile and larger-than-life excitement!

For twenty years, Pastor Denny served as associate and student pastor in various churches in Texas and Tennessee. In 2005, he was called to serve as Senior Pastor in Leonard, TX, a year after the church had suffered a major split. For eleven years, he was able to bring the ministry and message of reconciliation to the fellowship; and the church has grown, seeing many relationships restored. In 2015, Pastor Denny was asked to submit his resume to a church in Fort Worth. He agreed, asking the Lord to show him and his family if this was a direction from Him. On May 29, 2016, after hearing his heart and vision for a missional church, Sagamore voted to bring Pastor Denny on as Pastor. The church and our pastor look forward to many years of ministering to our community together.
